LOVE LETTER
A LOVE LETTER FROM IBEN JOO
What drives your creativity and how do you stay connected to your artistic power?
When I have the space around me and am not overwhelmed by administrative tasks—which isn’t always the case—I prioritize taking long vacations and travels whenever possible, both for work and financially. It’s during these times that I find my greatest inspiration and have the mental space to think about new products and see things from a different perspective. Often, when I return from these trips, I have a clear idea of what I want to develop next.
How does the clothes you wear influence the confidence, expression and creative process?
The clothes I wear daily influence me significantly. Interestingly, in the winter, my style is very toned down, conservative, and somewhat boring. In contrast, my summer wardrobe is always colorful and playful—this is one of the reasons I love Helmsted so much. Helmsted's designs are very feminine, which resonates with me. I adore long dresses; even if I'm unsure they suit me well, I love wearing them because they are easy to wear at the beach and chic for city vacations. They are versatile enough to be worn for lunch after a day at the beach.
What do you love about HELMSTEDT?
I also draw a lot of inspiration from Emilie. I admire her work ethic and approach to life. I truly enjoy her company and always have fun with her. It’s refreshing to have someone with whom to discuss business and share experiences as female founders in the creative world. I am undoubtedly a big fan of Helmstedt and Emilie herself.
What love letter or Message would you write to the next generation of powefull women?
My message is to remember the importance of supporting one another, lifting each other up, and continuing the fight for the freedoms we are fortunate to have as a birthright. This privilege of freedom and the confidence to pursue our creativity and start our own businesses should never be taken for granted. We need to maintain that space of freedom and support each other because without that support, we truly have nothing.
